Tagan i-Xeye TG420-U02 Review
May 30th, 2005 - Overall, the TG420-0U2 is a relatively good power supply meeting almost all the requirements set by newer motherboards such as ATX12 V2.0, EPS12V, PCI-E plus additional EMI shielding for your hardwares. Packing a total of 420W, the TG420-0U2 should be more than good enough for your non-SLi gaming system and it also offers stability for overclocking too. I have to admit that the TSCT really worked as it was advertised, which makes the Tagan the least noisy hardware inside our test system.

ATI RADEON X800 XL 512MB PCI-E
May 30th, 2005 - In fact, only DOOM III in Ultra-High mode demonstrated advantages of the new model. As well as TR:AoD. This card faired on a par with the 256MB model in all the other tests. Indeed, in many cases the X800 XL 512MB outperforms the 6800GT, but the same can be said about the X800 XL 256MB, which is much cheaper. That''s why it''s hard to make a cold evaluation of the new product.

D-Link DGL-4300 Wireless 108G Gaming Router Review
May 30th, 2005 - The highlight of the DGL-4300 Wireless 108G Gaming Router is the inclusion of D-Link''s GameFuel technology. GameFuel is essentially a QoS (Quality of Service) feature that refers to a broad collection of networking technologies and techniques. The goal of GameFuel is the prioritization of network traffic; in this specific case network traffic in reference to gaming. Consumers can define specific gaming rules that will allow a single or multiple gaming PC''s to have top priority on the network when compared to standard applications such as e-mail, chat clients or web browsers.

Prime Cooler Hypercool III+ & Hypercool 4+ Review
May 30th, 2005 - Basically the Prime Cooler Hypercool III+ and Hypercool 4+ are both good coolers for midrange overclockers because it seem that it can''t handle the heat for higher overclocking. Although these coolers are huge in size but the installation isn t that hard. I found that it is quite easy to use for all kinds of sockets. Besides that, these coolers are silent, universal (Hypercool 4+), and its ablility to cool down not only the processor but other motherboard components (MOSFET) as well. With its acceptable price, I would suggest you to try it if you''re looking for a silent CPU cooling solution.

ThinkComputers and Atrix Contest
May 30th, 2005 - Our latest contest is one of a different creature, it is a modding contest but not quite a modding contest. Ok the idea behind this contest is to give someone his or her ''15 minutes of fame''. This contest will run approx 1 month, a few days longer actually but will officially end on June 30th 2005, winners will be announced after the July 4th holiday, or Tuesday the 5th of July. Lots of prizes to win so check this contest out!

Scythe Silent Box HDD Silencer
May 30th, 2005 - When going for a silent and high-performing computing solution many people will do anything they can to make their PC inaudible (or as close as they can get). Once you get all the noisy hardware such as fans quieted down you may think you''re done, but little do you realize that your hard drive makes more noise than you think! Those who have silent water cooled computers will probably know what I''m talking about. Scythe has come out with a great solution to not only silent your hard drive, but they claim it''ll also help shed a few degrees off your drive''s temperature.

Gigabyte G-Power Cooler Pro Review
May 30th, 2005 - Even though they look alike, the G-Power Cooler Pro was indeed the better one when we compared it directly with XP-90. Priced at only $50, the G-Power Cooler Pro costs slightly more than a bare XP-90. Given that the performance of G-Power Cooler Pro is better than XP-90, plus the accessories and the powerful fan you get, I d say that the G-Power Cooler Pro is certainly worthy. Although it can get a little noisy at full speed, the fan control box gives the control over the fan speed at any given time. Besides, with a cooler like this, it adds a little spice in your windowed case as the fan comes with bright blue LEDs. If you re looking for a universal cooler without worrying if it might fit your motherboard, you should check out the G-Power Cooler Pro.

OCZ Platinum PC5000 DFI nF4 Special 1GB Dual Channel Kit
May 30th, 2005 - OCZ surpasses themselves with their latest DDR entry. The Platinum PC5000 is the fastest rated memory and provides cutting edge performance. If you have the cash to spared, don''t even think twice. But sadly, we''re not all rich.

Corsair PC2-5400UL DDR2 Memory Review
May 30th, 2005 - Corsair once again proved to be the innovator and not the imitator in the memory industry. Corsair''s PC2-5400UL turned out to be so fast we are looking for another lawyer to fix all of our speeding tickets. ... At 667MHz with 3-2-2-8 timings the memory bandwidth was found to be roughly 6700MB/Sec. By pushing the FSB of our processer up to 316MHz and running the 3:5 divider we were able to get over 8,000 MB/Sec of bandwidth....

ECS KV2 Extreme – a Motherboard Based on VIA K8T800 Pro (Socket 939)
May 30th, 2005 - The KV2 Extreme is another high end motherboard from Elitegroup, which is the second in the series of ECS motherboards for the latest AMD Athlon processors 64/64 FX (the first motherboard is KN1 Extreme). On the whole, the new model is a simplified version of its senior brother KN1. That''s because the KN1 Extreme was based on one of the most functional chipsets on the market, namely NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra. This model uses a simpler chipset from VIA. But it has a positive effect on the price of this product.

Antec Sonata Review
May 30th, 2005 - Everyone wants a quiet PC, I mean who wants to hear a jet plane sitting beside them while they''re trying to frag opponents in their favorite MMORPG? Antec claims to have the solution with their Antec Sonata case. Claiming it''s the most silent case you''ll ever have the pleasure of owning. So lets dive deeper into this review to find out whether or not this case really is as good as its marketing.

Atrix G8023C Case Review
May 30th, 2005 - There are many, many pre-mod cases out there; prices range from $30-$200 for a basic model pre-mod. Today I have a case that is in the lower range, but could easily sell for much more; The quality of the case is just amazing for the price of it. This is a case made by a little known company called Atrix, they have been around for a while but it doesn''t seem many people have actually heard of them, or promoted their products. This case for review today retails for $46.50. In my opinion it could easily sell for much more and easily compete with other ''Top of the Line'' pre-mod cases out there today.

Vantec Iceberg 5 VGA Cooler Review
May 23rd, 2005 - The performance difference between the stock cooler and the Vantec Iceberg 5 definitely shows that the Vantec Iceberg 5 performs very well, keeping the GPU almost 15C lower than stock cooler. Besides that the Vantec Iceberg 5 has other advantages which includes a mirrored copper base, cool blue LED and easy installation. With the price at 34USD, it is a bit expensive if you compare with stock cooler or other ordinary GPU cooler out in the market. Since you re willing to spend so much on a graphic card, why not just chip a bit more for the Vantec Iceberg 5 that offers better cooling solution which also prolongs the life span.

MSI RX800 XL-VT2D256E PCI-E Based on ATI RADEON X800 XL
May 23rd, 2005 - The card for about $350-370 fairs very well among the GeForce 6800 and even the 6800GT (the latter is obviously more expensive). Its disadvantages are inherent in all ATI products: defeats in DOOM III and CR (these games require fast texturing and stencil operations, that''s what NVIDIA is better at). If a similar product from HIS with an IceQ cooler were available at the same price, it could have borne the palm. But firstly, this card is not on sale; secondly, it''s much more expensive, so it seems to me that the X800 XL from MSI is currently beyond competition in terms of price, performance, bundle, cooler efficiency, and illumination.

Cooler Master Real Power 550W
May 23rd, 2005 - Cooler Master continues the Real Power series with a beefier 550W power supply. It comes with 3 independent 12v rails, a PCI-E connector, a wattage meter display, and a bright blue 120mm blue LED fan.

OK 800 Headphones Review
May 23rd, 2005 - Today I have Ok Gear''s 5.1 Channel Surround Sound Heaphones Model OK 800 for review. When offered the chance to review these I jumped on it. I thought ''Surround Sound'' in a headphone?? This has to be cool. Well let''s find out just how cool these are.

The Antec Performance TX1050B Case Review
May 23rd, 2005 - With a fantastic external look, and an even more impressive interior design, topped with an immense amount of room and excellent cooling properties, Antec is really raising the bar when it comes to high quality enclosures...

LICS AAF-1 Water Block Review
May 23rd, 2005 - Overall, the LICS AAF-1 is a pretty solid water block that comes with acrylic lid (light weight) for a fair price. However for the installation, it is not an ideal way for those who are always messing with their hardware as the installation can be a little troublesome. Anyway, the LICS AAF-1 water block is having some special discount at Com.Tra.de at only 25USD while the normal price is 45USD. So if you have a water coolig project coming up, you might want to grab the AAF-1 CPU water block.

SilverStone TJ06 Case Review
May 23rd, 2005 - The TJ06 is undoubtedly another champion case from SilverStone! Although it is not as perfect as the TJ03 nor TJ05, the TJ06 has its own advantages such as supporting up to five 5.25 drive bays, air guides, aluminum front panel and other neat features. On the installation part, the TJ06 is a very user friendly case and it find it amazingly easy to work with. This is because you only need to open the right side panel and the front panel to install everything whereas most cases needed a lot more effort to get things done. With the price at around USD135, it is quite pricey for a steel case but I believe that the price is worth if you look at the build quality and the features of the case. Anyway, if you find that its advantages appeals to you, then just go ahead and get this case. You won t regret it since its a SilverStone!

ATI's new AGP Radeons
May 20th, 2005 - ALTHOUGH PCI EXPRESS is undoubtedly the future of PC graphics, AGP isn''t nearly dead yet. In fact, since PCI Express platforms have only been available for about a year or around five months if you favor the Athlon 64 AGP still has a massive installed base among mainstream consumers, gamers, and even PC enthusiasts. At least some of those users are going to want graphics card upgrade options that don''t involve a motherboard swap, so it''s no surprise that ATI recently spiced up its AGP Radeon family.

For a little over a year, ATI''s Radeon X800 series GPUs have powered the company''s high-end AGP offerings. Over that time, however, ATI has introduced a number of new graphics products, including the Radeon X850 XT PE that boasts dynamic clock gating and higher clock speeds than previous Platinum Editions, and the Radeon X800 XL built with 0.11-micron fabrication technology. For months, these new graphics cards were limited to PCI Express, but AGP versions of each have recently become available. ATI has also bolstered its AGP lineup with the addition of an All-in-Wonder Radeon X800 XT. Together, these cards breathe new life into a graphics interface that''s been largely ignored for the last six months, but are they any good? Let''s have a look.

Abit AX8 @ InsaneTek
May 20th, 2005 - While VIA K8T890 chipset may be a little lacking in the performance department, die-hard VIA fans will be glad to know that the AX8 is a great implementation of the chipset. It''s budget oriented and overclocks pretty nicely.

SunBeamTech Wherever PCI Rack
May 20th, 2005 - Let''s face it. There''s a limited amount of slots and space in a computer case. Most computer users wouldn''t even give this a second thought, but among overclockers and case modders it something to consider. Well today we take a look at Sunbeamtech''s Wherever PCI Rack that allows you to install more components to your computer case. Maybe you want to mount a fan just above the videocard for added cooling, or maybe you just want to mount a third hard drive. With the Wherever PCI Rack you can do that and more.

SquirrelBBS Beta released
May 20th, 2005 -

SquirrelBBS is a BBS System I''ve been working on as a side thing, and I finally released a beta simply to show the progress so far. It is not yet fit for production use, but is simply to give an idea of what the default template looks like, and how things are structured from the admin point of view.

Ultra XConnect 500W Modular Power Supply
May 20th, 2005 - A modular power supply? I had first saw one of these when someone actually modded a normal power supply into one. I thought to myself these will be out soon! Well now they are! Today we will be looking at Ultra s XConnect 500W Power Supply! This power supply is not only modular, it is very stylish and takes power supplies to a whole new level of cool . So let s take a look!

Ultra X-Connect 500W Power Supply
May 20th, 2005 - The Ultra X-Connect is rated at a beefy 500W, which should more than enough for most modern day machines. That''s actually not the selling point of this model. Instead of the typical wires, the design is made to incorporate modular wires. Use what you need, remove what you don''t.

Details of ATI's Xbox 360 GPU unveiled
May 20th, 2005 - WITH MICROSOFT''S OFFICIAL announcement of its next-generation Xbox 360 console this week, ATI has decided to disclose some of the architectural details of the graphics processor that it created for the system. I had a brief but enlightening conversation with Bob Feldstein, Vice President of Engineering at ATI, who helped oversee the Xbox 360 GPU project. He spelled out some of the GPU''s details for me, and they''re definitely intriguing. Read on to get my graphics-geeky take on the inner workings of the Xbox 360 GPU.

Antec TruePower 2.0 480W Review
May 20th, 2005 - With up to 4 SATA power connectors on the TPII-480, you have a solid power supply that is ready to take on anything you can throw at it while not breaking a sweat even at full load. Although the cable management can be a little messy, I wished that the TPII-480 had a few more 4-pin molex connectors. If you re looking for a decent power supply to cope up with your power hungry system, Antec True Power 2.0 might just be the right hardware for you. Given that the TPII-480 is sold at around USD$99, you can''t get a better power supply for that price! If you re looking into getting a EPS complaint power supply, you can also check out the TPII-550EPS12V from Antec.

2005 Electronic Entertainment Expo E3 Coverage
May 20th, 2005 - May 18 was the first day of E3 2005. We head over and had quite a bit of fun with all the games and such. Take a look and see all our pretty pictures.

Gigabyte GO-B5232A CD-RW and DVD-ROM Combo
May 20th, 2005 - Gigabyte is very well known for their high quality motherboards but they also have a few other tricks up their sleeves. This CD-RW/DVD-Rom combo is a great alternative from the ones we''re used to seeing.

GigaByte GA-K8NS Ultra-939
May 20th, 2005 - GA-K8NS Ultra-939, based on the nForce3 Ultra chipset, is the first motherboard equipped with Socket 939 from GigaByte. The key differences of the new motherboard from the currently available on the market Gigabyte K8NNXP-940 and Gigabyte K8NSNXP (Socket 940 and 754, correspondingly) are the core logic nForce 3 Ultra (which in its turn differs from nForce 250 only by a faster HyperTransport bus, operating at 1 GHz) and Socket 939. In other respects, the GA-K8NS Ultra-939 offers nothing cardinally new: it supports the dual-channel memory mode (DDR 200/266/333/400), 4 x SATA (two of them are in the chipset and the other two are based on the additional controller Silicon Image 3512), traditional DualBIOS, and an average integrated audio controller based on AC 97 codec Avance Logic ALC850.
