April 29th, 2006 - When buying an external drive enclosure most people look for two major features; an IDE or SATA interface to match that of their hard drive, and of course the styling because it will probably be displayed on their desk for everyone to see. Today we''re looking at the Vizo Luxon external drive enclosure. Not only is this single enclosure both IDE and SATA drive compatible, but it also has great looks and has lots of included goodies.

HIS IceQ RADEON X1600 PRO Turbo 128MB PCI-E, Testing X1600 PRO Turbo 2x128MB CrossFire |
April 26th, 2006 - Today we review some unusual cards. Yep, they are marked X1600 PRO, but operate at 590/1380 MHz. That is they are X1600 XT cards. But why pass a faster product off as a weaker one? In fact, both X1600 PRO and X1600 XT cards are equipped with 256 MB of memory by default. But HIS manufactures this card with 128 MB of it. That was only fair (quite a rare thing today, by the way!) to name the card X1600 PRO Turbo - sort of an overclocked X1600 PRO. The product took an intermediate position between the X1600 XT and the X1600 PRO.

Formats War II: HD DVD Advances, Flying the Flag of NEC. But only in DVD-ROM |
April 24th, 2006 - Two formats are currently fighting for the blue laser market of optical storage drives - Blu-Ray and HD DVD. Blu-Ray demonstrates high storage capacity, but its manufacturing requires lots of investments to upgrade the existing facilities or to launch new ones. Hence a more expensive end product for a consumer. HD DVD - lower capacity of the media, but it can be manufactured in the existing facilities (only minimally modernized) so it''s a potentially more popular and cheaper product. HD DVD was the first to find its way into our lab in the form of the HD DVD-ROM optical drive from NEC, HR-1100A model.

ASUS V6J - Now on Intel Centrino Duo |
April 21st, 2006 - The model range of notebooks from ASUS is rather interesting. One and the same case may contain different components, which is reflected in the model number. In this case, J means that it''s an Intel Centrino Duo notebook with external (or discrete) graphics controller. This logic is quite clear - notebook exterior changes nowadays much less dynamically than technical innards. Besides, one and the same case may be used for a notebook on the Intel or AMD platform.

ASUS EAX1900XTX (RADEON X1900 XTX), ASUS EAX1900XT CrossFire (RADEON X1900 XT CrossFire Edition) |
April 21st, 2006 - Our today''s article is not usual. First of all, all experienced users know well that video cards of the RADEON X1900 XT/XTX level are manufactured on third-party plants, ordered by ATI. That''s why any ATI partner has nothing to do with their manufacturing. All vendors, including ASUSTeK, buy ready cards from ATI and just sell them under their brands. That''s why today we shall just review the ASUS'' bundle. Secondly, taking advantage of availability of a master card X1900 XT CFE in our lab, we are going to publish final CF test results on RD580.

April 11th, 2006 - As a verdict, the Mouse Bungee really proves to be a nifty = device that does just the job it was designed for: to keep the mouse = cord out of the way! Corsair 2048MB-TWINX4000PT Review |
April 5th, 2006 - Overall the Corsair TWINX2048-4000PT is a decent high capacity = DDR SDRAM DIMM. Although the 2 GBytes capacity doesn''t show much = improvement from the 1 GBytes capacity during our testing, but sooner or = later the 2 Gbytes memory is a must when especially for hardcore gaming = such as Battlefield 2 or running the yet to be released Window Vista. = The price for 2 Gbtyes Corsair TWINX2048-4000PT is not that expensive, = just around USD220 (RM820) so most of us should able to afford it.

April 5th, 2006 - Mouse pads are usually overlooked, and without knowing any different, many people still use those crappy blue ones that can be picked up from the local store for about a dollar. Mouse pads come in all different sizes and colors; some are fabric while there is some that''s glass. You can purchase a plain one or there is snazzy acrylic ones with LEDs (that so your mouse can see where it''s going at night). Today I have the XtracPads Ripper mousepad on the bench for review. The Xtrac Ripper is a large gaming pad. Will it have game, or will it just be another mouse pad? Stick around and see.
