Silverstone MS External 3.5" HDD Enclosure |
July 28th, 2006 - It=92s always been my thought that the best product is the one that does exactly what it promises to do, without nit-picks, without flaws, and without hassle. While it sounds simple, creating a product that does exactly that is very, very difficult. Today=92s product to be subjugated = to a test for idealism is Silverstone=92s first foray into the realm of hard drive enclosures, the MS01.

Smarthumb . Software |
July 28th, 2006 - A little while back, while at CES this year I received a cool little USB drive called the Smarthumb. It had lots of cool and useful software on it. Smarthumb has release new versions of that software and totally overhauled the user interface to make it more user friendly. Smarthumb asked me if I would like to take a look at their new software and of course I said yes, so come along as we check out a bunch of new and useful software programs that can be used on any portable storage device to make life much easier, secure and more organized...

SilverStone NT4 CPU Cooler |
July 28th, 2006 - Today''s CPU coolers features exciting new technologies like micro fins, and copper heat pipes, but do you remember the old fashioned aluminum fin types that most CPU''s came with stock? Is there still a place for them in today''s high temperature CPU''s? Well today for review I have a CPU cooler from SilverStone that reminded me of something I would have seen on an older type of CPU, all aluminum with a fan on top of it. It is the NT04 CPU cooler, is it any good? Can it do the job? Let''s find out...

City Life PC Game |
July 28th, 2006 - Sim style games are very popular these days and I''m not talking about ''The Sims'' type, I mean Sim City and such. CDV and Monte Cristo have come out with a game called City Life, it is a new twist on the Sim City style games, the graphics involved are excellent and game play is very good. I found City Life very enjoyable and very easy to play, there are many options and features that make the game have a high replay value.

Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX Review |
July 21st, 2006 - Overall, we are really impressed with the Big Typhoon VX and = Thermaltake should be proud of their creation. Although we didn''t quite = like the built-in fan controller, we are very happy to work with the Big = Typhoon VX because it installs like a stock cooler. Motherboard removal = is not necessarily required and it takes only less than 10 minutes to = get things done. Build quality was good but we would love to see a = shinier copper base. Performance wise, the Big Typhoon VX is currently = the best among the rest and we believe it is the most powerful CPU = cooler we have reviewed up to date. Users seeking to build a silent PC = will also love this cooler because it was able to perform very well, = even at low fan speeds. Priced at USD$53 / RM195, the Big Typhoon VX is = a very good bargain considering you get a decent 120mm fan and a nice = packaging too.

Digit-Life Review: Intel Core Duo X68: The First Extreme Model with the New Core |
July 20th, 2006 - As we already wrote, the new line of Intel processors Core 2 Duo inclu= des=20 two subgroups =E2=80=94 processors with the E index (their power consum= ption is=20 55-75 W) and currently the only processor with the highest clock in the=20 series (2.93 GHz) and the X index that denotes power consumption above = 75=20 W. This index certainly associates with the previous XE-series processors=20 =E2=80=94 eXtreme Edition. But unfortunately, the new extreme processor o= ffers no=20 additional bonuses versus regular desktop CPUs =E2=80=94 just the highest = clock=20 (good) and higher power consumption (not very good...) In view of the abo= ve=20 said, we shall not pay much attention to its technical characteristics.=20 Let''s proceed right to our tests.=20

Digit-Life Review: NVIDIA GeForce 795 GX GB PCI-E Represented by an Accelerator from BFG |
July 19th, 2006 - Have you heard of computer (or hardware) sandwiches? They are = essentially the same as usual sandwiches in the kitchen: two pieces of = PCB with something in between...=20 The first 7950GX2 based sandwich that has found its way to our testlab = was a card from BFG. This company, unknown to most Russian users, was = founded by three former employees of VisionTek that hadn''t withstood = competition and died. So we can say that BFG is an heir to VisionTek. = Two factors play a special role here: Factor One - BFG thoroughly checks = all cards, irregardless of where they are obtained: from BFG plants or = bought as OEM. That''s a new fashion, because reference cards bought from = NVIDIA are usually sold without any tests - NVIDIA offers warranties = anyway. Factor Two - package contents. The bundle is very unusual. But = it will be described below...

Digit-Life Review: ASUSTeK Video Cards Based on NVIDIA GeForce 76GT/79GTX/795GX |
July 18th, 2006 - Today we are going to review three products from ASUSTeK, one of them = being the 7950 card. It''s a great pity that all the engineers did was to = install a noiseless cooler from ASUS on GeForce 7600 GT. All the three = cards are manufactured by NVIDIA''s orders on unknown plants. Partners, = including ASUSTeK, just buy ready cards.

OCZ GameXStream 6W Power Supply Review |
July 16th, 2006 - As far as I can say, the OCZGXS600 is an excellent performer. = It is certainly refreshing to see such a compact design that packs a = powerful punch while being virtually silent. The good news is, all that = comes at a price you can afford. Thanks to OCZ, there is also a 3-year = warranty with worldwide coverage. Although the +12V rail was a little on = the high side, which could be due to factory tweaking to keep the +5V = rail up to par, the higher voltages could still allow some slack to = cater to the high +12V power draw EPS systems.

Inno3D GeForce 73GT DDR3 56MB Pencil Vmods |
July 11th, 2006 - After spending some quality time with the Inno3D GeForce = 7300GT DDR3, we were interested to see how well it overclocks with a = minor Vmod with pencil. Without any Vmods, the card clocked up to = 600/1600MHz (550/1400MHz default) with ease. Since the 7300GT does not = cost a fortune, we decided to take the risk and mod it. Would you = believe it if we said that we managed to clock the core up to 820MHz and = scored 14000marks in 3DMark03 with a single 7300GT?!

Inno3D GeForce 73GT DDR3 SLI Review |
July 6th, 2006 - Overall, the GeForce 7300GT DDR3 is yet another legendary = graphics card from NVIDIA. It simply kills any card at its price range = and even smoked the higher-end GeForce 6800GS and Radeon X800XL in = certain benchmarks like 3DMark06 and games such as Call of Duty 2, Quake = 4 and Battlefield 2. Without a doubt, the 7300GT DDR3 is the fastest 8 = pixel pipelined graphics card on the planet. Priced at about USD$125 / = RM450, the Inno3D GeForce 7300GT is a deal hard to resist. Moreover, it = comes with dual DVI outputs and a sexy black PCB.=20

Kingston HyperX PC3 KHX3AK/G GB Kit Review |
July 4th, 2006 - Overall, the 2GB HyperX PC3200 kit did a great job with its = low latency memory timings. Although the presentation is very much = similar to any HyperX kit, it would be refreshing to see a slightly new = design on these kits. The most interesting fact is when we were able to = operate these modules at DDR400 with just 2.4V. This is makes the HyperX = run relatively cooler than any other 2GB DDR kit we have tested.
