abit Fatalty AN9 3X Motherboard Review |
October 30th, 2006 - Overall, the Fatal1ty AN9 32X is a pretty decent socket AM2motherboard. Based on the successful NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI chipset, abithas done a good job with the Fatal1ty AN9 32X. With its red coloured PCBand underbody red LEDs, this motherboard is probably the coolest lookingsocket AM2 motherboards in the market, provided if red is your favouritecolour. The QTES GT heatpipe cooling also worked flawlessly but it wouldhave been better to have the SB heatsink heatpiped as well. We also hadalmost no issues with the board layout but we hate the fact that thespace between the secondary PCI-E slot and PCI slot was too tight. Thiswill be bad news for those who plan to run SLI and pair up a decentsoundcard on this motherboard.

Inno3D GeForce 79GS SLI Review |
October 20th, 2006 - The card ran reasonably cool and much of it contributed to themassive overclock achieved with the stock cooling. With almost 50%overall overclock right out of the box, the Inno3D 7900GS is surely nota slacker. You will want to overclock it especially when you understandthat it uses 1.4ns Hynix memory ICs. Overclocking was fun and easy withthis one but we frankly jumped when it outperformed the 7950GX2 beast. In all of our benchmarks, the overclocked Inno3D 7950GX2 was easilyfaster than the rich man''s 7950GX2. If you want to taste some 7950GX2,then get a pair of these Inno3D 7900GS babies, overclock them and youare good to go. By the way, you can always smile at your 7950GX2 buddiesand tell them that you''ve got the same performance for about 100 bucksless!

Thermaltake Ruby Orb CPU Cooler Review |
October 16th, 2006 - Well well, the Ruby Orb is certainly not too heavy, not toolight, looks great, and performs decently. Although having a aluminumcore, the performance is still good enough to decently tame down a superhot Prescott, bringing it down lesser than 60 Celsius. I have yet toreceive a pricing detail about this cooler, but I am very sureThermaltake will make it priced decently for the market.

DFI LANParty UT NF59 SLI-MR/G Review |
October 10th, 2006 - With vast memory tweaking and overclocking options in theBIOS, the SLI-M2R/G motherboard should make overclocking easy and fun.We managed to hit over 640 MHz memory frequencies when we paired it withsome OCZ VX2 Micron D9s, which broke our own lab records in terms ofmemory speed. At the same time, our Athlon 3000+ also reached slightlyover 3.2GHz whilst on water-cooling only. Nevertheless, the current BIOSneeds a little improvement as we were limited to only 370HTT.

Biostar TForce P965 Deluxe VDIMM Pencil Mod |
October 5th, 2006 - A few weeks back, we reviewed the Biostar TForce P965 Deluxe(VER 1.0) motherboard. This motherboard is based on the Intel P965Express chipset and it is the best overclocking motherboard in its pricerange. Clocking in at 472MHz FSB maximum, the TForce P965 Deluxe is adream enthusiast''s board that doesn''t cost a fortune. However, the onlydown turn was lack of DRAM voltage (VDIMM) which was limited to 2.2V(2.15V actual). Luckily, we have a trick up in our sleeves that will putthis board right on track. This Vmod can also be applied to the newerTForce P965 (non-Deluxe) and TForce 965PT granted the layout is exactlythe same. This VDIMM mod is so easy that you need only a sharp pencil, asteady hand and a digital multimeter of cause.
