Spire Diamondcool II and Verticool II at ExtensiveMods.com
January 25th, 2007 - Today''s CPUs are running at faster speeds and require sufficient cooling to prevent a Chernobyl-like meltdown. As technology gets more advanced, companies are developing new ways to cool the CPU more efficiently than ever before; be it air or water-cooling. A top of the line water-cooling setup can easily run into the hundreds of dollars and be too steep of an investment to make for the average modder. Air cooling has been the standard option to keep your CPU temperatures under control and today I''m going to look at some new air cooling units from Spire Coolers; the DiamondCool II and the Verticool

So let''s check out some things that caught our attention at the ShowStoppers event.

CES 7: D-Link & Creative
January 17th, 2007 - D-Link has a large booth at CES and they are showcasing a number of products. The first of which that I was able to get a look at was D-Link''s DSM-510 which was released 5 weeks after development was completed because the engineers were so happy with it. Also Creative had a lot of products but most of them were product demos so it was a bit difficult to be able to talk with someone about a particular product, but I was able to talk about Creative''s Zen Vision W portable media player.

Sunbeam 9-Bay Acrylic Case Review
January 17th, 2007 - Sunbeamtech was established in 2000 as a cold cathode fluorescent lamp manufacturer, but has recently added computer hardware to its product lineup. Notably, it produces a line of modular power supplies in competition with Ultra''s X-Connect series, as well as lines of keyboards, mice, cooling devices, and cases. It cases use a patented fan structure called Core-Fan, a lip on which fans can sit and be easily adjusted wherever needed within the height of the case. This review is for one such case, the 9-bay Acrylic Case, a transparent chassis ready for a high-performance, water-cooled, gaming, showcase rig. However, flaws make the future of this case unclear. Read on for the review.

abit AW9D-MAX Review @
January 8th, 2007 - The AW9D-MAX is truly built for overclockers and is designedfor enthusiasts. The board layout was near excellent but we couldn''thelp picking on the PCI slot which was located rather close to thesecondary PCI-E x16 graphics slot. This is a serious problem for gamerswho plan to install a better soundcard and run dual GPU setup at thesame time. But there''s no need for a dual GPU configuration especiallywhen you can run almost any game at maximum setting/resolution with asingle GeForce 8800GTX or the upcoming ATI/AMD R600 graphics card.
