Proxy Servers Gone Wild

Proxy Servers Gone Wild

A few years ago a phenomenon was born which, unbeknownst to even itself, was probably the first MFA Web proxy that would spawn a legion of followers. Great demand, fueled by the most adament of crowds - Myspace addicts - drives the demand for proxies relentlessly.

Armies of proxy servers haven't been the only result of this demand. Users searching for MySpace unblockers and bypass proxies have spawned an entirely new vocabulary of niche slang. Proxies used to be the domain of hackers and geeks, not thirteen year old valley girls. But, as MySpace has become ridiculously popular so have thirteen year old valley girls trying to message their valley boyfriends on MySpace. And on Bebo. And Facebook. And Friendster. The number of social networking sites, MySpace spinoffs and resource sites has grown immensely.

So everyone is hunting for a MySpace proxy site so they can unblock MySpace, or if they are trying to get on Bebo then a Bebo proxy or what you might call a Bebo unblocker. A Bebo unblocker sort of makes me think of medicine. For unblocking Bebo. Yikes.

So in the wake of this relentless army of thirteen year olds regularly trying to thwart their sysadmins and simply getting blocked from every proxy on the Web we have Webmasters teeming with sites ready to deliver. Except they crash all the time, because proxies are a real pain in the butt to run. And not only are there hordes of kiddies trying to use them, real hackers and warez distributors are constantly hunting for fresh new sites to abuse. Yikes again.

Luckily, even though sites are continually blocked new ones crop up every day, and some Webmasters are trying to create stable proxy networks with many suceeding quite well. Proxy top sites, proxy.org and proxy directories can find you new proxies on a regular basis though.
